Naturalistic outdoor boarding, is RJR's way of keeping the Horse in it's natural environment. Horses are healthier, and emotionally happier, when they are in their natural environment and a member of a herd. There are trees and ponds, offering shelter, shade and plenty of water to play in and cool off in and enjoy naturally.
ROTATION OF GRAZING AREAS FOR MAINTENENCE OF GRASS -They will be put in temporary areas from time to time ,for allowing pastures to recover, and grow up , and during some muddy times, to try to foster as much grass growth as possible. We do seed and fertilize seasonally. During that time they are fed Round bales, or flaked hay. If they are in an area where a feeding station is , they are pulled in 2x day and given hay, and grain(seasonally) , & as needed. Graining will continue, till we feel, no longer needed, usually when they are grazing.
Sometimes when we are rotating, we can not separate the horses,& if we can not separate them, we can not grain them. So if they are in an area where there is no feed station , temporarily, they will not be grained. In exchange, we either give extra hay, or round bales, to help them maintain, and we offer you the priveledge to grain them from our grain , when you are out to visit.
if we have just grass hay (and we feed extra when we do), it is because , temporarily we can not get alfalfa. Alfalfa is always our first choice for hay. Due to supply and demand, grass hay is used, until more alfalfa is availiable.
Your horse should be evaluated and fed according to his size and how easily he maintains weight, sometimes, this can change, but usually a Thorobred, or Large sized quarter horse needs the $25-$50 extra per month program, and we will add that extra flake of hay/ or scoop as needed. FACILITIES
We Proudly Feature Our Cowboy's Pavillion with fans & plenty of venilation and shade. A place to hang out, & cool off, during the day. A place with light at night if you are visiting. For owners doing extra graining, bringing their own. We prefer you use the feed station to put your horse in and close the gate to give grain , that is what they are designed to do. Please no hay feeding or graining on the ground at pavillion anymore, it leaves a mess to clean up. You can also use in arena stalls to supplement your horse. If you are in the pay extra program, and out to visit your horse, feel free to give an extra flake of hay, or scoop of grain, if you rode your horse, or he looks a bit poorly. Even if you are not , call Susie and she may let you do this as well for a period to get your horse caught up. Use arena stalls or feed station. Then clean up the manure in that area when you take your horse out.
We offer use of 2 tack rooms, 1 full size outdoor arena (which has sand in it and has been professionally put in and the footing is always good even after a rain, we are able to ride in it, and not bring up mud.
Love our indoor arena for those rainny days, or if you need to get out of the Sun for a while. We ask you please, hose it down if you are going to ride inside, so you and your horse do not breath the dust.
We have a round pen for a tune up, and breezing, We also offer an expansive selection of unrestricted trails to ride, including paths to local parks, and the Meramec and Big Rivers. The staff also haul to equestrian campgrounds once per month, in season.
Sorry for the inconvience folks...and for bearing with us. Any geldings that need a break , can be brought to lower pasture where General is, and put in there by their owner, with my permission, until the cross fence is complete. There is some grazing there, then that pasture is to be cross fenced also to allow for rotation there.
We have some cross fencing to do, for geldings by their feed station, to allow their grass to grow up , so we can rotate them, right now they are on an area, w/o their feed station and no grass ,with round bales, and flaked hay, till we can get that cross fence in. We should have it done in May w/o a problem. Right now , if any gelding 's owner wants to move their gelding to the lower field, Just let us know , there is some grazing there. For the geldings on extra program, feel free to use the grain and feed your horses separately, in addition to what we are doing , when you are out to visit your horse , right now, it is a critical time, just comming out of a hard winter, and wet Spring. We just want the horses to get up to where they look right and maintain.
Our Mares & Geldings have feeding stations (seen below)Mares

We love how they keep the horses separated until all are done eating. The most aggresive horses come in to slots and a gate closed behind them, and released when all are finished.
RJR has an Indoor Arena. A round pen, and a new Outdoor arena. Heated Warm room with Cowboy Decor. A refrigerator, plugged in during the summer, in the Barn for lunches and cold drinks. We love our Covered 30x60 Shady pavilion, with ground fans, makes even the hottest day bearable. There is always a Cross breeze under the Cowboy Pavillion. If you like to drink water, our water tastes great and is cold well water from farm faucets, 3 convieniently located, for your pleasure, and for bathing a horse. We are loaded with plenty of lovely wooded trails for you and your horse to enjoy.

2011 RESERVING NOW FOR VILLAS

At RJR we believe stalls are not the most natural living for horses. Happy horses are outdoors, and take shelter in the woods, and sheds. Full Care is only availiable if horse can't be outside, and is priced according to what services the horse will require. If an owner wants the convienience of having a horse in a stall , here is the next best thing: ALL THESE WILL HAVE RUNS SO HORSE CAN GO OUTSIDE WHEN HE WANTS TO, no turn out necessary with these, horses can run back and forth and exercise themselves.
